Tuesday May 21st: It’s a beautiful late spring/nearly summer day in Kernersville, NC with plenty of sun and a temperature of 74 degrees headed up to 84. At The Gibson House Inn today we are planting raspberries and blueberries to add to our strawberry patch. These fruits make an appearance with breakfast in the summer mornings with a dollop of yogurt on top. Still reflecting today on the visit from our Swedish guests at The Gibson House Inn from last week. What a wonderful week with our dear friends from Microsoft in Sweden.
Cloudy this morning and cool at 66 degrees. It’s a great day to do outside chores, including window washing and weeding with the cooler temps. Getting ready for very warm and sunny weather this coming Memorial Day weekend.
Coming up this weekend near The Gibson House Inn is RidgeFest in Oak Ridge NC – just a short drive down St. Rt. 150 from the Inn. This festival is fun for the whole family. It features carnival rides and games for kids as well as food trucks. On Friday, there is a Cruise-in and live music in the evening. On Saturday, there is a craft fair, and in the evening more live music as well as Fireworks at dusk.
It’s another beautiful clear blue sky day at The Gibson House Inn. Sun shining and 66 degrees at 10:30 in mid-June with low humidity. What a wonderful start to the Father’s Day weekend. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and father figures this this weekend.

My daughter and I just spent the weekend at the Gibson House Inn in the historic district of Kernersville. When we stepped into the house it was like stepping back in time. The owners, Darlene and Troy Pearson, have done a fantastic job restoring the house to its original glory. After taking a tour and learning some of the history, you realize how much care the owners have put in to allow you to feel like it’s the 1800’s. The house has been carefully decorated with period specific décor, yet with modern conveniences like central heating/ac and several new bathrooms so each guest room has their own for privacy. The beautifully restored hardwood floors, shiplap walls, and original bead board ceilings are just some of the architectural touches you find as you walk from room to room. I can imagine it was like finding buried treasure as they peeled layers of carpet and wallpaper away during their renovations. At night we walked down the street to a local pub and on our way we passed beautiful homes, the Botanical Gardens where a wedding reception was going on, cute little green spaces the town of Kernersville has placed where they have “movies in the park” and activities throughout the year, specialty shops, restaurants, and other people also walking down the sidewalks. I was amazed at how many places was within walking distance and how safe we felt. After a nice drink and great conversation, we walked back to the inn and continued our conversation on the beautifully lit front porch in the rocking chairs. Finally, I headed to the “Peach” room where I curled up for a great night sleep. The room felt so cozy and the sheets so soft. I don’t think I have slept that well in a long time. Then I woke up to the smell of fresh coffee and pineapple upside down French toast. I felt like I was waking up at Grandmas with the warm smells of home cooked food. I can’t wait to go back to the Gibson House Inn and explore the town and all it has to offer. The Inn would be a great place for a girls weekend, bridal shower, or just a nice romantic place to get away. I highly recommend you experience what the Gibson House Inn and surrounding community has to offer. You will not be disappointed. ~ Carole – Greensboro

Morgan, The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Ambassadors, and most especially to all those involved in renovating The Gibson House – Matthew Bills (carpenter and renovation specialist, Tim Florence (Handy Tim) electrical and renovation consultant, Mr Willie owner of Chazown Media and Electrical, Remick Pearson, painting specialist, Amy Beck (interior design consultant), Titti Herrity (The Lucky Clover Baking Company) for providing cookies, cinnamon rolls and baked goods to the inn, and most especially to our “white knight” plumbers at Plumbing and Air Service Company.
